The rrnmont report upon the fJl'inion ttHlay, indicates, in my whi. h ' most serious situation weekly cotton vjr. iias Tii oiifronted the trade since far-r IV -uat!n is intensified by myself in, I a month ago every one, crop a, "'"''d, was expecting a big ton. , an abundant supply of cot- luu'v'' iiiif11-' f rop now seems abso t'xeopdi Ul tho luostion, while an to Ui. ,r, y snia11 crop is quite with 'orid;s nl of Possibilities. The ""my of American cotton, visible and invisible, is less, with, one exception, than it has been at any time since the American war, and in the case above referred to cotton went to 11 cents a pound in New York. I feel justified, therefore, in expressing the opinion that a further and very; substantial advance in cotton is in evitable and may be confidently an ticipated, and Southern holders and producers can, I think, without trou ble, realize at least nine cents a pound for their portion, provided they are not precipitate in accepting pres ent prices.
